Books :)

Lately everyone is freaking out over the new hp 7 part 2 movie and how it’s the end of a lifelong journey. And part of that is true. I’ve been in love with the Harry Potter books since I was seven years old. I was thinking about how they had such a HUGE impact on my life from such a young age. But they weren’t the only books that changed my life when I was a kid. So, for no particular reason, I’ve decided to talk about those books that I’ve loved since childhood. Here it goes:

We’ll go ahead and start off with Harry Potter. Like I said before, I’ve loved the book series since I was seven and the movie series since i saw the first movie. These books have a special magic that grab on to you and stay with you throughout your life. The books are more than just witch and wizard magic. They’re special. I just know that when I have kids they’ll be reading these books and feeling that same magic that I still feel to this day and I know that will always stay with them just like it will always stay with me.

And on that note we are moving on to The Chronicles of Narnia. I honestly have no clue if I know anyone else that has read this series other than my mom and grandparents. But I’m sure more people have read these books. I read all seven Narnia books in the 5th grade. It was love at first sight. One day my Meme gave me this book called “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew” and before I even knew what it was about I was completely mesmerized by it. And my Meme saw that I loved it so much that she gave me all the rest of the books in the series. I completely adore them. There is so much meaning in them. And it wasn’t until later on that i discovered that these books have been around for ages and generations older than mine read these books when they first came out. On a side note: to those of you that have read this series, was anyone else upset that they completely skipped over the first and third book in the movie series?

Now for the book that may actually be my very favorite book: The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine. I am in love with this book. For as long as I can remember I had a special time for this book. Every single summer just a couple weeks before school started I would take out my little tent, set it up in the living room, and would camp out in that tent with this book. I rarely left that tent. I didn’t want to stop reading. I didn’t want the story to end. So I would read as slowly as I possibly could (which was very difficult) and camp out until I was done with the book. The summer before 8th grade was unfortunately the last time I was able to do that. But that book had such an impact on me. I always pictured the two sisters in it (they were princesses) as me and Kelly. I could see so much of us in them. That book will always hold a special place in my heart.

I could go on and on but instead I will end with this final book. This one isn’t actually isn’t any specific book. It’s a whole genre. Fairy tales. To this day I love a good fairy tale, whether it’s one we’ve all heard a thousand times since birth or a new twist on a classic story. There’s something about fairy tales that is so magical and special. It’s captivating, intriguing, and absolutley wonderful. There aren’t even words to describe how incredible I think fairy tales are. I’ve loved them for as long as I can remember and I know I always will love them.

To whoever may be reading this: congratulations for actually reading all of this! When it comes to books I could talk for hours so I applaud you for making it all the way through this. And to my future husband: I sincerely hope you can handle me and my love of books. And I hope you don’t get too jealous of the love that books and I share. :)
